I ASKED GOD

I ASKED GOD TO TAKE AWAY MY PAIN. GOD SAID, NO.
IT IS NOT FOR ME TO TAKE AWAY, BUT FOR YOU TO GIVE UP.

I ASKED GOD TO MAKE MY HANDICAPPED CHILD WHOLE. GOD SAID, NO.
HER SPIRIT IS WHOLE, HER BODY IS ONLY TEMPORARY.

I ASKED GOD TO GRANT ME PATIENCE. GOD SAID, NO.
PATIENCE IS A BYPRODUCT OF TRIBULATIONS: IT ISN'T GRANTED, IT IS LEARNED.
I ASKED GOD TO GIVE ME HAPPINESS. GOD SAID, NO.
I GIVE YOU BLESSINGS. HAPPINESS IS UP TO YOU.

I ASKED GOD TO SPARE ME PAIN. GOD SAID, NO.
SUFFERING DRAWS YOU APART FROM WORLDLY CARE AND BRINGS YOU CLOSER TO ME.

I ASKED GOD TO MAKE MY SPIRIT GROW. GOD SAID, NO.
YOU MUST GROW ON YOUR OWN, BUT I WILL PRUNE YOU TO MAKE YOU FRUITFUL.
I ASKED FOR ALL THINGS THAT I MIGHT ENJOY LIFE. GOD SAID, NO.
I WILL GIVE YOU LIFE SO THAT YOU MAY ENJOY ALL THINGS.

I ASKED GOD TO HELP ME LOVE OTHERS, AS MUCH AS HE LOVES ME.
GOD SAID.....AHHHH, FINALLY YOU HAVE THE IDEA.

------
A story tells that two friends were walking through the desert. During some point of the journey they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face.

The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the sand:

TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE.

They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him.

After he recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone:

TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE.

The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, "After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now, you
write on a stone, why?" The other friend replied "When someone hurts us we should write it down in sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away.
But, when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it."

LEARN TO WRITE YOUR HURTS IN THE SAND AND TO CARVE YOUR BENEFITS IN STONE.

They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them.
